Shenandoah County now joins a large number of law enforcement agencies around the country who are embracing this tool to de-escalate violence and better protect both police officers and the public.
The Vector is a maneuverable, lightweight, single-arm secured ballistic de-escalation barrier that stores in the front of a patrol vehicle next to an officer. The smaller, stronger, lighter, and more versatile tool protects critical mass in tight spots while protecting the officer’s centerline.
It is specially designed to protect both officer and citizen by placing a safety barrier between them, giving the officer a few extra seconds to assess a situation and time to transition to a less-lethal force option while protected, when possible.
In hundreds of documented incidents, the Vector has stopped guns, knives, bricks, bats, needles, and dogs. Using these barriers, many officers have been able to avoid tragedy and protect bystanders without ever having to fire a weapon. And most importantly, those officers went home safely to their families at the end of their shifts.
Due to its easy access and maneuverability, the Vector can be used in every area of law enforcement. The shield has become critical protection and de-escalation tool for patrol officers, motorcycle units, mounted patrol, gang units, narcotics, fugitive apprehension, riot patrols, SWAT, school resource officers, environmental police, marine patrols, and department of corrections officers.
Our company also provides the most comprehensive training curriculum in the industry, including training on de-escalation, emotionally distressed person (EDP) response, and active shooter training.
Vector Defensive Systems, LLC is also proud to be part of the Responder Alert Program for Autism Awareness. This program provides law enforcement with crucial tools and training to safely and effectively interact with an adult or child who could be having an emotional episode unannounced to an officer. Our company provides the shields and training to officers so they can evaluate the situation in the safest way possible for both the individual and the officer. We also provide specially designed stickers for families to place on front doors or vehicles to alert officers that an autistic child or adult is present.
